New On Etsy

Descriptions for handmade crocheted scarves on http://www.etsy.com/shop/lmprock.  Just a friendly reminder that my Black Friday Sale ends on December 16th, 2016 and that is also the final day that I will shipping all Christmas items to the places they need to go.

Once items are sold, designs aren’t repeated again due to the fact that all items in my shop are unique, handcrafted, and one of a kind. More items are rolling in my Etsy created from Sow’s Ear Studio and at home.

With mom going in Tuesday December 6th, 2016, I will be working on some scarves while waiting for mom to get out of surgery.  See me working on these lovely creations in the waiting room on Tuesday.

Sow’s Ear Studio will be closed on Black Friday, but stop in and say hello to Rosemary and Lauren on Small Business Saturday, which takes place the day after Black Friday.  If you live in Schenectady, stop by Sow’s Ear Studio on Small Business Saturday.  I will also be creating an event on Etsy so shoppers can stop by Sow’s Ear Studio.  Thanksgiving dinner will be at Galway Lake with my Aunt Cindy, Uncle Larry, and cousins.  Stay tuned for some great nature photos, family photos, and dinner.

SOLD: Rustic Heart Brooch

Sold: Rustic Heart Brooch

I’m very glad to say that I SOLD my rustic teal heart brooch this morning. I love this brooch because teal is my favorite color and I love the brown part of this brooch. When I was writing the description on my Etsy shop, this is what I wrote.

Size: 1 5/8 x 1 1/2. Make a fashion statement with this handmade polymer clay heart brooch that has teal pearl polymer clay, raw sienna polymer clay, a simple jelly roll cane.  When I created this brooch, I had antique teal finish and different colors on my mind.

This handmade brooch is finished with liquid polymer clay, and a silver pin.  Pin on the back has been super glued, clayed, baked, and then has a coat of liquid polymer clay on the top of the clay. Brooch may be worn with a jacket, scarf, purse, and can be worn with scarves, and shawls.

FREE SHIPPING: Handmade brooch will be shipped United States Postal Service 1st Class Mail. For further details about shipping, click on the “policies” window next to this description.

Unique Article: The Telegraph: Knitting-Crocheting Jam Making Improve Mental Health Study Finds

Unique Article: The Telegraph

While finishing my bohemian blanket for my bed yesterday, I decided to take a small break and flip through Facebook.  Flipping through I stumbled on this article about knitting, crocheting, and mental health.  Briefly reading this article about the history, mental relaxation of knitting and crocheting and decided to share it on my Facebook profile.  While thinking about how crocheting is my business, I love crocheting, and how it relaxes me, I decided that I wanted to write a small blog about what I think of this article.  I like this article because it talks about knitting and crocheting in the past and present.  To read this article, simply click on the link shown, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/11/25/knitting-crocheting-jam-making-improve-mental-health-study-finds/

Hello Fall

It’s official, Fall is actually here.  Leaves changing colors, shorter days, colder days, wearing layers of clothing, and bundling up with some new scarves by Lauren at Where’s The Yarn?  I’ve currently working on new scarves for Sow’s Ear Studio and my Etsy shop.  All scarves are $45/each.  Scarves are made with yarn of all kinds including soft wool, cotton yarn, and worsted yarn.  Each scarf will have a different kind of stitch.  Stitches include single crochet stitch, half double crochet stitch, slip stitch, and other various types of stitches that I’m learning about along the way.  I’m also adding some fringe and fancy edges to my scarves when they’re completed. All scarves are machine washable and can be placed in the dryer on low heat. Buy an early holiday gift with a handmade scarf with my “BLACK FRIDAY SALE” on Thursday November 24th-December 11th, 2016.

My other goal is to not buy anymore yarn until the yarn I currently have is all used up.  No more buying yarn at Michaels and Herrschners.  My two favorite places to purchase yarn and burn a hole in my pocket.  I’ve got so much yarn to work with, I need to create some new designs for home and wearing.

Every time I see a new color of yarn, I always think of what I can make with it.  Well now I’ve decided to just create some new things with what I’ve got and then when I start to run low on my current yarn inventory, I’ll start to buy more.  Until then, you’ll see all the yarn that I currently have both at home and at Sow’s Ear Studio.  Both of these scarves will be added to my Etsy shop on November 1st, 2016.

Slip Stitch Used For Many Things

I’ve been crocheting since 2009 and learned only one stitch.  A simple single stitch. As time has gone by, I’ve decided to experiment with new stitches and techniques.  For example, I started this lovely nature scarf with a simple slip stitch.

A stitch that’s not lace, it’s closed.  With the slip stitch on this scarf, the stitches look big, loose, but the stitches are close enough to keep you warm during the long cold months.  I’m working on more blankets, scraves, fingerless gloves, and much more with this delightful stitch.

More Scrunchies On The Way

If there’s one thing that I learned that’s quick and easy to produce and makes a great gift, that’s my small and large scrunchies.  All scruchies are made with a hair elastic band, cotton yarn, and a small crochet hook.  This keeps the stitches together so you don’t see the elastic band.  Scrunchies can be found on http://laurenprock.biz at $7.50 each. Remember, shipping is free on my Etsy shop as well.

All items in my shop take 1-2 weeks to deliver, so if you need a scrunchie or anything else from my shop, be sure to order your item(s) fast.  This scrunchie is made with Premier Yarn Cotton Flair in aqua ice.  I love these scrunchies because the stitches are wrapped around the elastic band, working with the stitches doesn’t make the scrunchie look so big, and I make a fancy fringe when completing the scrunchie.

Scrunchies are great for girls with long hair, doing everyday activities, cooking, working in a restaurant, and want to keep their hair pulled back during long summer days.

These wonderful hair pieces also make a great stocking stuffer for Christmas, along with any other holiday, birthday, etc.  I have a total of twenty three scrunchies in my shop, so if you need more then one, there’s plenty.  Make one of these scrunchies a part of your hair collection today from my Etsy shop.
